Red Korean Ginseng roots are classed into four categories:
• Heaven
• Earth
• Good
• Cut
Roots are divided into classes based on their physical characteristics and as a result, their potency.
The Heaven-class is the highest grade, premium root which should not have any cracks or scratches, the colour of the roots must be maroon, brown, or dark brown. There must be a diameter of ≤2.0 mm of whitening and pitting effecting less than a quarter of the root.
Heaven grade is only 0.5% of the total red ginseng production, which makes it incredibly rare and special. Its dense inner tissues are the reason why the heaven grade is the most valuable for containing a large amount of active ingredients
The extraction effect of red ginseng highly depends on extraction temperature and time. Boiling at the higher temperature for a long time will destroy the some contents of red ginseng. Therefore, it is properly to boil them at around 85 degree up to 24 hours. About 5 liters of water (based on 300g) is appropriate. It is recommended to store at the freezer during the summer season to have it as cold drink.
