Ginseng is a sensitive natural food that requires special handling and care. In order to preserve the essential, vital elements of the ginseng root, Il Hwa has developed and patented a special process to extract the ginseng root at low temperatures.

Red Ginseng is normally processed from 6 year old roots. Il Hwa, however, discovered that the 6 year harvested roots are actually too old - as the root becomes fibrous with lower density and balance of the ginsenosides. Other key ingredients like phenols and polysaccharides are also reduced.


Il Hwa therefore uses the highest quality Ginseng harvested at the optimal time at 4-5 years to obtain the broadest range and balance of ginsenosides. 


USE OF THE WHOLE ROOT + ROOTLETS

Most companies processing ginseng will peel the roots. Whilst peeling saves time, the key ingredients, such as ginsenosides, that are found in the rootlets are foregone. 


Il Hwa therefore processes the entire root plus all rootlets, taking the longer process of non-peeling to obtain the most efficacious end product.

Furthermore, most other Ginseng companies use a high steaming process to turn Ginseng into Red Ginseng. Although this is faster, it actually destroys the important vitamins and Germanium, an effective natural blood cleanser, as well as reducing the amino acids and polysaccharides.  


To avoid this, Il Hwa's uses a low heat vacuum extraction process which eliminates boiling, steaming and high heat. As a result, Il Hwa's White Ginseng Extract maintains all of the key ingredients which are lost in other types of processing.

White Ginseng typically has less ginsenosides than Red Ginseng. The extraction process for Red Ginseng requires a high temperature process which depletes the number of ginsenosides.


However, using Il Hwa's own proprietary low heat technology, White ginseng is extracted so effectively that Il Hwa is able to increase the ginsenoside content to an even greater amount than Red Ginseng extract, sometimes 2-3 times more.
